Eminent Freedom Fighter and
social activist Captain Lakshmi
Sehgal passed away in Kanpur.
She was 97. She suffered a severe
heart attack and was admitted to
the hospital on 19 July 2012. Born
as Lakshmi Swaminadhan on 24
October 1914 in Madras, Captain
Lakshmi Sehgal completed his high
school education from Madras.
Subsequently, she studied medical
science in Madras Medical College
and received her MBBS degree in
1938. A close aide of Subhash
Chandra Bose during the days of
freedom movement, she was the
one of the most prominent mambers
of his Indian National Army.
